Nose in a Book

I read. A lot. In fact it is not uncommon for me to read a book a day for weeks on end. I have decided to track what I read, and what I think of it on this blog. I may also post reviews of what I have read in the past and of my faavorite authors.

I have recently turned 25 and do not know what I want to be when I grow up. I am new mom, so for now that is my focus. Eventually I will decide on a career but for now it is mommy. Family is very important to me and my husband Patrick is my best friend.

Dragon's Fire

Dragon's Fire

Anne McCaffrey, Todd McCaffrey
DelRay, 2006, (Fantasy)

DID NOT FINISH!
This was only the second Anne McCaffrey book that I have ever started without finishing. I only made it part way into the second chapter before slamming it shut in disgust. This is about the twentieth novel in the Pern series and I think it is a little late to start changing the way things are done. In none of the previous books did dragons arrive with a sonic boom, in fact they were able to sneak around effectively. Never before was it mentioned that "Fire Stone" exploded on contact with water. This does not mesh well with the idea that it was transported in sacks tied to dragons who could well end up flying through rain.
If the story was captivating I could have put aside my irritation at these changes but it wasn't. Will I read it again? I sincerely doubt it. Will I read Anne McCaffrey again? Yes. Will I read Todd McCaffrey again? We will have to see.
